148

I made it to 148.

I am bored with my diet/eating habits. I guess this is the life changing part. Food is supposed to be for nutrition/health, not entertainment. Hard thing for me to grasp because of my families strong Italian ties to food/heritage. Food was what you did when:

someone was born, or died, or was sick, or was visiting, or getting married, or when everyone was home together.

you bake a big dinner, everyone eats together. it's about the fellowship.

I am struggling with "fellowship" around grilled chicken breasts and broccoli, but we are surviving.

I am off for three days in a row, which is pretty much unheard of, so I am going to try and add walking into my days to see if it helps the loss.

Some of my clothes fit better, which is nice. I feel good, and have more energy, but I just wish it would come off and stay off and I could be done with it.

finally under 150

Today I weighed in at 149.

I suppose in this process of weight loss, that measly little pound that took almost an entire week to shed itself from my body, is not something to be celebrated; but for me it means I am under 150. And psychologically, under 150 is where I just always want to be. I feel better when I am there for some odd reason. It motivates me to continue forward without all my favorite things in life, like soy mocha's and such.

Today I work a late shift (1pm-10pm), so my plan looks like this:

breakfast: eggs, bacon and coffee (black)
lunch: large salad with cukes and ranch
dinner: grilled chicken breast with leaf lettuce and a slice of tomato

no snacks, unless i eat a dill pickle before work. lots of water at work, and sugar free vanilla iced coffee.

Here's to getting to 145....

Another week

I have been fighting a horrible cold this week. I haven't been doing too badly on my food intake, other than I am not very hungry and haven't been eating much. Nothing illegal, just not really enough legal stuff to let me lose much. I am still at 150 today. I am not upset by that because before I started back to this way of eating, I was gaining and struggling to stay at or below 155.

I am off today and doing things around the house, including grocery shopping.

Today's menu:

Breakfast: 3 egg omlette with red and yellow peppers
snack: plan on having celery if i need it
Lunch: big salad with peppers and bacon bits
Dinner is scheduled to be roast beef (it is in the crock pot now) with cauliflower/garlic mash

Water as usual.

No great inspiring thoughts this week, just trying to live through work and my cold.

The meeting

So today I had to sit through a meeting from 9-5. Not my favorite thing to do. If I was good at sitting for 8 hours, I would not work in a restaurant. Our only real break was for lunch, and of course.. there was only one thing I could eat.
The menu they had was:
chicken parmesan
rigatoni
garlic toast
buttered green beans (and I mean buttered)
and green salad.

I had the salad. and that is it.

So today I have had
60 oz of water (so far)
2 eggs for breakfast
3 cups salad for lunch
and I am hoping to have a steak for dinner
I have had one piece of sponge bob bread when I got home as a snack.
2 diet cokes
2 cups coffee

I was down to 150 this morning, so I think I may have hit ketosis finally. I haven't got any sticks to check..

I heart SAM's Club

Went to Sam's club today. I used to hate Sam's. I also used to go without a list and spend a fortune. Now I heart Sam's. I have a list of items I know cost me less there. I buy my list and I go home. No extras.

Today I got:
eggs
bacon bits (to dress up my salads a bit)
mini sweet peppers (no clue why their peppers are cheaper than anywhere else around here)
ranch dressing
sharp cheddar
smart balance in the BIG tub (has no lactose, but is full-fat so has been working fine on Atkins)
broccoli florets (for dipping and steaming)
dill pickles in the BIG jar

I tried to get Slim Jims for Andy (he works a 10 hour day with a 45 minute drive each way and sometimes these make his drive home tolerable), but no one had them. Not Sam's. Not Walmart.

So far today--- egg salad with cucumber slices, 40 oz water, salad with bacon bits/mini peppers/ranch dressing, one cup coffee and one diet coke.

Still Here... still hoping to lose

So I am still doing the Atkins induction plan and it is going pretty well.

Today's weight is 151 which means my fickle scale thinks I am thinner today. I don't ususally believe I have lost anything until my clothes fit more loosely though.

Following the plan is tough for me on work days. I work at a very well known fast food restaurant, and although most of the food is legal on Atkins induction, I am around it all day and don't really feel like eating it. Why is it that once I get home and shower and have some nice time to relax, a burger doesn't bother me at all????

Anyway, here are the things I have been eating and a game plan of ideas for the upcoming week.

Breakfast-- I have been eating two eggs (if I am at work) and a piece of sausage, OR today since I was at home I had spicy egg salad and cucumber slices. I always have at least one cup of coffee; either iced or regular, and I have no intention of stopping.

Lunch-- when at work this weekend I just had a burger pattie and some leaf lettuce. Today at home I will probably have a salad with carb free caesar dressing.

Dinner-- I have had a variety of dinners this weekend... ny strip steak and cauliflower, burgers and broccoli, chicken and green beans. Tonight will be chicken and some veggie that has yet to jump out and grab me.. but i am on my way to the veggie market later.

Snacks--when working I generally don't have time for snacks, so I don't have them. At home, I snack on slices of pepperoni or dill pickles. I know neither one is the worlds greatest food, but hey...that is what a snack is about!

Things that I am going to make today for our upcoming week to go more smoothly.

1. egg salad ( we keep this in the fridge because it is easy to spice any way you want it, quick to grab a bit in a hurry, and you can use crunchy stuff like celery to "scoop" it)

2. spongebob's flaxmeal bread I know there are varying schools of thought on the carbs in this one,but we keep it on hand. Andy likes it and managed to lose 60lbs having a slice of it every single day. He has it with butter as a snack or with his breakfast, as his "toast". We make it in a loaf pan and cut it into 16 pieces.

3, omlette muffins. These are simple. I take a dozen eggs, some kind of meat (right now we use turkey pastrami, but have used sausage, bacon, turkey) and some cheese (sharp cheddar) and mix together in a bowl. I scoop them into muffin cups (no papers) and bake at 350 for about 20-25 minutes. These are perfect for microwaving in the mornings and just grabbing anytime you need something legal and don't feel like making anything.

Today's challenge--- drink my darn water. I have not made my water goal one day since I started.

Happy losing.

Day One

I started Atkins Induction today. I have tried other things in the past, and this one is the one that is easiest for me to do. It is pretty straight forward: don't eat sugar, any kind of grain product, or anything but what is on this list. You can't get much simpler than that. My main fear is always that I will get bored with it.

Today's schedule: Day off
1. drop off son 2 at basketball camp at 9
2. grocery shop
3. pick up son 2 at basketball camp at noon
4. clean house
5. do laundry
6. stop by cell phone place and do some phone updates
7. dinner with family
8. walk
9. set up for a working weekend

Today's menu plan:

Breakfast: 3 fried eggs with freshly ground pepper, 30oz water
snack idea: leftover steak
Lunch: salad with grilled chicken breast (grilled an entire bag of them last night)
Dinner: burgers and broccoli
snack idea: sugar free jello

Things I did last time that helped me:
drank water before allowing myself to drink anything else
do not try and give up caffeine... it will make the family miserable
eat whenever I started to get hungry instead of waiting
read www.lowcarbfriends.com message boards for ideas
did it with my hubby
tracked with fitday.

Happy Day 1.
